In the fourth Twenty20 International between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe in Dhaka, skipper Sikandar Raza elected to bowl first. The visitors replaced middle-order batsman Craig Ervine and wicketkeeper Joylord Gumbie with left-arm quick Richard Ngarava and batter Ryan Burl.
Najmul Hossain Shanto, the captain of Bangladesh, also desired to bowl first.
Prior to this match, Soumya Sarkar, Mustafizur Rahman, and Shakib Al Hasan were all added back into the Bangladeshi squad. Mohammad Saifuddin, Litton Das, and Mahmudullah made room for the three.
Before an eye ailment and a finger injury limited his opportunities during the ODI World Cup last year, Shakib had last played a Twenty20 international match in July of 2023. Mustafizur, meanwhile, had returned to the team after a period of rest following his IPL stint with the Chennai Super Kings.
This match is the first Twenty20 International to be played at Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka since March 2023. Bangladesh played their final 11 Twenty20 international matches at this time, all of them in Chattogram or Sylhet.
Bangladesh has won three of the four matches in the five-match series, winning by eight wickets, six wickets, and nine runs, respectively.
